Talk Title: Analytical Characterization of Cyclodextrin-Based Antidotal Strategies: Capturing Natural Aminosteroid Phytotoxins with Sugammadex

Szabolcs Béni studied pharmacy at Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary, where he graduated in 2003 and earned his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2007. From 2009 to 2010, he worked as a visiting scientist at the University of California, Riverside.

Until 2023, he held positions as vice dean, associate professor, and head of the Department of Pharmacognosy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Semmelweis University. In 2023, he joined ELTE–Eötvös Loránd University as a senior researcher and now serves as an associate professor at the Department of Analytical Chemistry within the NMR Center of the Institute of Chemistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences.

His research focuses on developing analytical methods for characterizing cyclodextrins, milk oligosaccharides, and glycosaminoglycans. Using NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and advanced separation techniques, he addresses complex challenges in carbohydrate characterization, contributing to a deeper understanding of their biological roles.

Szabolcs Béni has authored over 140 publications, which have garnered over 2,800 independent citations, earning him a Hirsch index of 33. He is an active member of the Hungarian NMR Discussion Group and currently chairs the Organic and Drug Analysis Discussion Group of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Beyond his scientific endeavors, Szabolcs is a proud father of two.
