Esen BELLUR ATİCİ graduated with high honors as the top student from the Chemistry Department of Middle East Technical University (Ankara, Türkiye) in 2002. During her studies, she conducted research on cyanine dyes under Prof. Dr. Engin U. Akkaya and completed industrial internships at Roche (Basel, Switzerland) and Bayer AG (Leverkusen, Germany), working on the synthesis of biologically active compounds and organometallic porphyrins.

She received DAAD and BASF-AG scholarships to pursue her PhD at the University of Greifswald, Germany, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Peter Langer. Her research focused on novel one-pot cyclizations for the synthesis of 2-alkylidenetetrahydrofurans and 2-alkylidenepyrrolidines. After earning her PhD in 2006, she worked in polymer R&D before transitioning to the pharmaceutical industry.

Since 2007, she has led the development of synthetic routes and analytical methods for over 60 active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). She is currently the R&D and Clinical Development Director at DEVA Holding A.Ş., Türkiye, where she oversees pharmaceutical innovation and development. She is also an adjunct professor at Gebze Technical University and actively mentors undergraduate and graduate students.

E. Bellur Atici has authored 82 scientific publications (h-index: 22) with over 1,240 citations and holds 35 patents/patent applications. She has served as principal investigator or researcher on 34 government-funded projects and reviewed over 100 scientific articles. As an expert for the European Commission’s European Research Executive Agency, she evaluates HORIZON MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship proposals in chemistry and life sciences.
